Salmon #6

When ready to spawn, a female salmon will select a location on the riverbed and begin digging in the gravel with her tail. She is trying to create a low spot full of clean gravel so she can deposit her eggs in a place where they are more likely to survive. Once the eggs are in the gravel, she will guard them from predators and competing salmon until she dies.
